Hot Weather Tips for Pets

Posted on April 11, 2023 by admin

Make sure they always have access to fresh clean water

Ensure there is a shaded space for them to lay around outside

Take them to the vet for a check-up – ensure they are healthy and checked for heartworm, etc

Animals with flatter faces who may have a hard time breathing (pugs, french bulldogs, Persian cats, etc) should always be kept out of the heat in order to ensure they can pant/breathe properly and cool down

Do not leave animals in a parked vehicle outside during high temperatures

Brush and pet your cats regularly or even trim longer coats, shaving them completely reduces their ability to cool down and prevent sunburn

Do not walk outside unless you have protective footwear for your pet

Be mindful of outdoor gatherings, human food can be dangerous for pets and lead to medical problems.

Be especially careful to avoid giving your pets raisins, grapes, onions, chocolate, and products with the sweetener xylitol (this includes some brands of peanut butter!).

Winter Weather – Be Prepared

Posted on January 19, 2023 by admin

Traveling in Rim Country this winter? Before you go check road conditions at www.AZ511.com for road closures and crash incidents.
The number one cause of winter car accidents is ice and snow on the roadways.
Slow down. Braking takes longer on slippery roads — the slower you go, the easier it will be for you to recognize potential hazards and control, slow, and stop your vehicle. Make sure your car is prepared for the winter conditions (check your battery, windshield wipers and washer fluid, tires, antifreeze, and headlights).
Items to keep in your car kit during the winter
Your winter emergency kit should include basic survival supplies, safety items, car maintenance tools, and winter clothing. These items will help you stay comfortable and hydrated if you ever get stuck on the side of the road or have to wait out a storm. Pack your supplies into a storage bin, and place your roadside emergency kit inside your car before venturing out into the cold weather.
Here is a list of items to include in your vehicle when driving in winter:
Flashlight
Bag of cat litter, sand or salt
Snow shovel
First aid kit
Ice scraper
Jumper cables
Water
Blanket
Cell phone charger
Reflective triangles
Non-perishable snacks
Matched
Toolkit

And be sure to keep your car maintained; inspect your battery, replace your wiper blades if needed, keep gas in the tank and check your tires.
